'Green Team' advance campaign to bring Volvo fleet to their shores with a possible Irish entry 21/9/07
It is looking more and more likely that the seventh country to enter the 2008/9 Volvo Ocean Race will be Ireland. Three Galway businessmen – John Killeen, Enda O’Coineen and Eamon Connelly, or the Green Team – are likely to announce a new Reichel Pugh designed Volvo 70, already on the drawing board in California, as the Irish entry of the 2008/9 global challenge.
Although no official announcement has come from Galway, Green Team CEO Jamie Boag told the Irish Times that an Irish entry was not possible until the funding was in place. He explained that the process was “advanced, but still ongoing.”
