The South Atlantic Highs are affecting Geronimo's speed as she attempts the Jules Verne Challenge

Having got off to a good start on their Jules Verne attempt, Team Geronimo have spent the last few days trying to avoid the worst of the South Atlantic highs. However, while they have added distance to their course – heading west rather than on the more direct route east – they are still ahead of Orange, the current record holder’s time at this point of the challenge. They are now on heading in the right direction towards the Cape of Good Hope but are now being affected by another anitcyclone and boat speed has dropped to just 8 knots in 7knots of south-easterly breeze.

Reports from the boat this morning show that the air temperature is dropping as they make their final approaches towards the Southern Ocean.
