South-westerly gales in Torbay, with winds gusting up to 50 knots, prevented any sailing on the second day of the International Dragon Class Edinburgh Cup, being hosted by the Royal Torbay Yacht Club.

With waves breaking over the harbour wall, chief race officer Robert Llewelyn had no hesitation in keeping the fleet ashore, and having studied the weather forecast, deciding early that there was no chance of any sailing at all for the day.
