Skandia Team GBR have won two further Gold medals taking total medal haul to 5 Gold 23/8/07

After an incredibly close finish, Paul Goodison won gold in the men’s singlehanded Laser class by three seconds, to give Skandia Team GBR, the British sailing team preparing for the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008, their fourth Gold medal at the 2007 Olympic Test Event in Qingdao, China.

Then soon after that Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson clinched the fifth British gold in the highly competitive Yngling class finishing nine points ahead of the Dutch team in second place.


Today’s two Gold medals bring Skandia Team GBR’s medal haul to 5 Gold and 1 Silver at the Olympic Test Event, with the remaining Golds won yesterday by Ben Ainslie, Bryony Shaw and Stevie Morrison and Ben Rhodes yesterday, and a Silver by Nick Rogers and Joe Glanfield.

The 2007 Olympic Test Event in Qingdao, China, is seen as a major indicator in the sailor selection process for the British team for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
