Tomorrow the Nautor Challenge yachts Amer Sports One and Amer Sports Two are expected to leave their base at Sanxenxo, Spain, for England in preparation for the start of the Volvo Ocean Race.

Final preparations for the Volvo Ocean Race, a 33,000 nautical mile marathon race around the world that starts in Southampton on September 23, are now well under way.

Amer Sports One is crewed by an international men’s crew skippered by round-the-world racing veteran Grant Dalton of New Zealand. Amer Sports Two will be sailed by a women’s crew, skippered by Lisa McDonald of the United States.

SEB and illbruck were the first teams to make the move to the South Coast, and with less than a month to go before the start, we can expect to see Tyco, Djuice and News Corp arrive with crews, shore team and corporate entourage.
