Gale force winds last weekend forced the postponement of the first race of Up River Yacht Club’s Winter Series. Racing will commence this weekend

The gale force winds that swept the country last weekend forced the first race of Up River Yacht Club’s dinghy Winter Series on the River Crouch on Sunday 27 October to be postponed. Racing will now commence, with races two and three, on Sunday 3 November at 0915.

The remainder of the handicap series (eight races in total with five to count) will take place most Sundays until 22 December. The entry fee for the series, including boat storage in the dinghy park, is £10.


3 November – races 2 and 3, start time 0915

10 November – race 4, start time 1430

17 November – races 5 and 6, start time 0915

24 November – race 7, start time 1330

8 December – race 8, start time 1330

22 December – race 9, start time 1245

The winter series is followed by the Ice Breaker race for all dinghy classes on 1 January. The start time is 1100 and the entry fee is £5.
