Mini Transat favourite Isabelle Joschke encounters problems and heads to shore 10/10/07

French female sailor Isabelle Joschke who won the first leg of the Transat 6,50 Charente Maritime Bahia (Mini Tranast) has encountered problems just three days into leg three why lying third.

Although it is still unclear what has happened to Joschke aboard her brand-new Finot Conq-designed Degrémont-Synergie the positions rankings, showing her gradually losing pace since yesterday afternoon, indicate something major has happened to the rig. She is now in 57th place heading east at a position of 25.0571N/19.0526W and making just 4.8kts. The race organisers say an escort boat is currently on its way to meet Joschke and find out the extent of her problems.
