Karl Suneson from Sweden and Andonis Manolakis from Greece have taken the Laser European senior and youth championship titles respectively

The courses for final races of the Laser European championship yesterday were set close to land and the conditions proved to be extremely tricky. The wind blew from north-west but continued to shift throughout the day.

The Swede, Karl Suneson, overtook his fellow countryman Fredrik Lasssenius and won the overall European Championship in the senior fleet. Lassenius came in second and British Paul Goodison took third.

Lassenius had, like most competitors, a day with different results and commented after the racing: “I was the fourth last rounding the first mark and I had some troubles catching up. And it was unpredictable where to catch the wind and I came in 43rd.”

In the junior fleet, the Greek sailor, Andonis Manolakis, took first place, only one point ahead of his nearest rival, French Thomas le Breton. German Hannes Baumann finished third overall.
