Science Applications International Corporation has signed on as the latest corporate sponsor in the forthcoming Global Challenge round-the-world yacht race

Challenge Business today announced that Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) headquartered in San Diego, California has signed on as the latest corporate sponsor in the forthcoming Global Challenge round-the-world yacht race. Skipper, Eero Lehtinen of Finland and his 17 Crew Volunteers will sail the SAIC yacht.

Hadi Bozorgmanesh, SAIC senior vice president commented: “We are pleased to be able to support the exciting Global Challenge yacht race. The company looks forward to providing our employees the opportunity to be part of a professional racing crew and compete in this world class yachting challenge.”

This is the fourth race since its inauguration in 1992. The Global Challenge 2004/5 will feature 12 teams for the 10-month event. The race starts on 3 October 2004 from Portsmouth, UK. Conditions will range from the unpredictable calms of the doldrums to the immense seas of the southern oceans, where the crews will encounter icebergs and gale force winds.
