Stevie Morrison and Liam Murray are the new Fireball world champions. After an indifferent start to the week at Lake Bracciano (Italy) the pair who won the European title the previous week so convincingly pulled themselves up throughout the championship to lie second overall going into the last day, three points behind Ian Pinnell and Dave Scott.

A fifth by Morrison and Murray in the first race of the day to Pinnell and Scott’s sixth eroded part of the defecit and then a bullet in the last race gave them the title.

In winning the Fireball worlds Stevie follows in a family tradition as his father, the legendary Phil Morrison, won the title with Jon Turner in 1981.
