Light airs yesterday forced the race committee at the Laser Radial European championship to run only one race yesterday

At exactly at 1100 yesterday the wind disappeared and competitors at the Laser Radial European championship in Austria, were once more forced to stay ashore. However, the wind increased after lunch allowing one race to take place.

Unfortunately several thunderstorms lead to an extreme windshift on the last upwind to the finish. As always the jury was active on the water, even though sailors were more disciplined than the day before. Nevertheless long-term-leader Matthias Stepanek from Austria was judged three legs before the finish, and therefore left room for several other boats. The winners of this race were Eduardo Van Vianen (NED) and Timofei Zbankov (RUS). After a short wait the race committee decided that another start would be too risky as lightning struck in the surrounding area. The sailors were sent to the land and after 30 minutes the bad weather moved on, but the wind was gone, so all other races were cancelled for the day.
