On Saturday 12 April 14 Laser 2000s assembled at Whitefriars SC at Ashton Keynes for the Whitefriars Warm Up and were greeted with bright, cold, sunny weather and a light breeze; excellent conditions for the first open meeting of the season.

Three races were run in the day series with two to count. The easterly wind was gusting and shifty but still provided plenty of opportunities for gennakers reaching making a colourful site on such a sunny day. The competition was intense and positions up and down the fleet changed frequently where there were races within races.

At the end of the day Helen and Andrew Phillips ran out overall winners pushing last year’s winners, Jeremy Boddington and Rupert Whelan, into second place, with Trevor and Caroline Bradley running them a very close third.
