A Flying Dutchman training event was held at Rutland SC last weekend

Despite too much wind and then too little, the Flying Dutchman training event at Rutland Sailing Club last weekend was once again a great success.

The annual event is organised and run by the UK Class Association. This year coaches ranged from the current National Championship-winning team to RYA coaches and a member of the fleet was also encouraged to impart their knowledge on physical preparation and warm up and warm down routines for sailing.

The emphasis of the weekend was boat handling and when able to get afloat the fleet were worked hard and then had the joy of watching themselves in the video and picture debrief. Despite one or two embarrassing moments for a couple of crews, all agreed this was very valuable.

In between the hard work was a lively Saturday night where everyone got the opportunity to compare notes on the day and pick the brains of the coaches.
