This year, the annual Cowes Crew Ball has been transformed into The Charlie Fish party, an informal ball for the local and sailing communities. The event, in aid of Sail 4 Cancer, will take place on Thursday 12 August in the GBR boat shed, just seven minutes walk from the main marina at Cowes.

Many of the Skandia Cowes Week social events are exclusive to club members, so if your credentials don’t allow you to pass through the necessary gates, or you simply fancy dressing down a little at the end of a hot and salty day, the Charlie Fish Party could be what you’re looking for. The two confirmed bands for the evening are The Commitments, and crew ball favourites The Accelerators.

Profits will go to Sail 4 Cancer. Tickets are £30 which includes T-shirt (to be worn as a ticket), food and a discounted Red Funnel Ticket.

For more information and to buy tickets online go to www.charliefish.co.uk .

Sail 4 Cancer is a registered charity, which aims to raise significant amounts of money for cancer treatment and research through the organisation of high profile sailing events. The charity also offers cancer patients and their families an opportunity to sail, in the hope that their quality of life may be improved.

As the official charity for Cowes Week for three years, Sail 4 Cancer are not only seeking to raise the profile of the charity within the UK sailing community, but also to promote sailing to the wider community.
