Olivier de Kersauson and his Geronimo Team are now well ahead of Bruno Peyron Jules Verne record

Speeding towards the Equator at an average speed of 21.88 knots, Olivier de Kersauson and his Geronimo Team are now well ahead of Bruno Peyron Jules Verne record.

At the end of the fifth day at sea they have covered 525 nautical miles and now have just 794 miles to go before they reach the Equator. Having passed the Cape Verde Islands at 0300, Team Geronimo will most likely head towards the South American coast in an effort to reduce the effect of the Doldrums and the St Helena High.
