Team New Zealand's extraordinary baby boom

Behind the scenes of Emirates Team New Zealand’s big shed in Valencia is a mini expatriate community that includes a doctor, a physiotherapist and three full-time chefs. The idea is to be able to operate as independently as possible.

Their base has a gym, a sail loft, welding shed, winch bay and so on, but not a facility that has turned out to be sorely needed: a crèche. The 125-strong team has grown since the last America’s Cup, with 28 new junior members – and counting.
