  • The Mark Mills 6.50m class boat for the Mini Transat. 2 Whitstable yachtsmen will be campaigning these full-on Minis in the transatlantic race next year. Female moulds are being built for them. For more details see Yachting World August.

  • Don Wood, Swan owner and the man behind the Lymington Source Regatta has returned to multihulls purchasing the old yellow Finot Formula 40 catamaran Lessives Blancho. Since the demise of Formula 40 in 1989, this yacht has been given a substantially taller rig and has been racing on the Swiss lakes. Wood, who spent many years campaigning the 60ft trimaran Red Star Night Star (formerly Rob James’ Colt Cars), is racing the boat, now rechristened Wight Source, in the Round the Island race.
