Flash Glove takes the silverware on the fifth day of Skandia Cowes Week 08/08/07

Irish eyes were smiling as Colm Barrington’s TP52, Flash Glove carried off one of Skandia Cowes Week’s glittering prizes, the Britannia Cup. Flash Glove’s navigator Mike Broughton explained;

“Today was a very different one, fluky northerly winds and we were racing in the eastern Solent for the first time this week, a reaching start was not ideal but we were delighted to win the Britannia Cup. On a personal note, I have come close a few times, so it was nice to finally win this prestigious trophy.”

Flash Glove and Stephen Ainsworth’s RP 60, Loki, were swapping the lead several times through out the race and Charles Dunstone’s TP52, Red, was sailed smartly especially in the lighter patches claiming second in the race.

Flash Glove now leads Class 1 by a healthy margin from Loki, in second place with Sir Peter Ogden’s Swan 601 Spirit of Jethou third in class overall.
