A multi-million dollar reconstruction of Rodney Bay Marina is nearing completion

The multi-million dollar reconstruction of the Rodney Bay Marina in St. Lucia is nearing completion and on schedule for the Atlantic Rally for Crusiers (ARC). The new marina will feature 248 fully reconstructed slips and a refurbished upland component with retail and restaurant facilities. The redevelopment also introduces a new megayacht pier offering 32 berths for megayachts up to 250 feet in length. The megayacht dock will feature on-site Customs & Immigration, multi-phase power, WiFi, crew facilities, concierge and guest relations, and more.

Rodney Bay Marina was acquired in early 2007 by Island Global Yachting (IGY). The company considers the marina as a cornerstone of its portfolio in the Caribbean and is dedicated to showcasing the marina and the island of St. Lucia as one of top yachting destinations in the world. Rodney Bay Marina also offers a 4.5 acre boatyard (also being renovated) and is situated in a well-protected hurricane hole.

Home to the ARC

For the past 16 years the marina has been the completion stop for the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers. Andrew L. Farkas, chairman and founder of Island Global Yachting said, “We are so excited to unveil the new Rodney Bay Marina to the Caribbean, as well as the global yachting community. This facility will certainly impact the tourism value of St. Lucia and… we look forward to continuing to work with the Government and people of St. Lucia to further enhance the economic benefits that the marina brings to the Island from jobs to tourism dollars to tax revenues.”

“The Rodney Bay Marina has always been something that all of St. Lucia could take pride in,” said Cuthbert Didier, general manager of Rodney Bay Marina. “However, now with the renovation, the benefits for the community will be even greater. ”

History of the marina

Rodney Bay Marina was established in 1986 by Arch Marez, a California-based entrepreneur who died in 2005. Through the years, the Rodney Bay Marina has become the centre of yachting tourism on the island of St. Lucia, complementing the luxury hotels and condominiums which support its northern tourism belt.
