Skandia Team GBR continue where they left off at Beijing Games

After topping the sailing medal table at the 2008 Olympic Games, Skandia Team GBR have continued where they left off in Beijing, winning 16 medals across the three ISAF Sailing World Cup events held to date.

These rankings include a number of crews who retired after the Qingdao, sailors who have not raced in their classes since that time, and sailors who are now campaigning in new crew combinations. Hence, It will be at least another year before these rankings provide relevant guidance for 2012.

Taking the rankings on their face value however, following on from the European debut of the ISAF Sailing World Cup at the Trofeo SAR Princess Sofia MAPFRE in Palma, the latest release of the ISAF World Sailing Rankings puts Spain on top. The Spanish team put in a strong performance on their home waters, winning four ISAF Sailing World Cup medals.

Along with the Spanish team, Australia continues to impress and holds four top-three positions in the World Rankings. Poland and Great Britain look strong with three top-three ranked crews apiece.
