With two weeks to go, what’s in store, Matthew Sheahan talks to the key players, plus news and views from around the world

This week we’re in Valencia to hear Russell Coutts speak out after two and a half years of biting his lip. His opponent, Alinghi’s skipper Brad Butterworth gives his view on whether the racing really will kick off on 8 Feb, plus he talks us through what he thinks is in store on the water when it does.

We also talk to multihull guru Cam Lewis, one of the few people in the world to have sailed with a solid wing in the America’s Cup. In 1988 he was aboard Dennis Conner’s winning Stars and Stripes. How does he think the current two will shape up?

In just 8 knots of true wind BMW Oracle sat pretty at 25+ knots! Want to see the wing sail in action? Check out this week’s video extra on Matt’s blog as we track the monster Cup trimaran during training in Valencia – She’s a beast.

Aside from the Cup chatter, we’re in Perth for the Warren Jones International Youth Regatta and in the UK for an initiative to get people back in their Lasers.
