Last year’s hugely successful Crewsaver Top Club, a ‘National Championship’ for clubs, has led to both Crewsaver and the RYA to support this year’s event once again.

Crewsaver are again the headline sponsor, as part of their sponsorship they will provide prizes from their extensive product range that will benefit all club members at prize winning clubs. The RYA is again supporting the Crewsaver Top Club as part of their support of Club racing.

Top Club aims to find the strongest RYA-affiliated club in the country by thoroughly testing their all-round racing performance. By entering three boats, one in each of three handicap groups – slow, medium and fast as defined on the Top Club website www.topclub.org.uk – and combining each boat’s overall scores, clubs need to put forward strong teams in each fleet in order to do well overall. Last year, it was Parkstone YC who became Top Club with 10th in the Fast, 2nd in the Medium and 4th in the Slow fleet.

This year’s event at Grafham Water SC on 24-25 September is expected to exceed last year’s turnout of 30 clubs as it becomes more widely acknowledged and the competition becomes fiercer. Entry process has been made easier this year and the entry fee has been reduced to just £90 per club. Extra regional awards have been added this year to include first Scottish club. So, if you think your club might have what it takes to steal the Crewsaver Top Club crown, contact Emma Harris (emma.harris@topclub.org.uk) for further details or call 07989 393916.
