The British Classic Yacht Club is holding its annual regatta from 16 to 23 July 2005

Hosted by the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club in Cowes, the popular British Classic Yacht Club Regatta is seen as the highlight of the club’s busy calendar of events.

The BCYC has continued to grow with East and West Coast divisions being launched in early 2005. A significant number of members yachts and visiting yachts are likely to attend the regatta including design classics from the pens of Fife, Nicholson, S&S, Holman, McGruer, Rhodes and Laurent Giles. This year also sees an invitation to six metre, eight metre and twelve metre yachts to race as an International Class, promising some exciting Solent racing.

In a slight change of format, the week will start with more of a rally focus allowing owners and crew a chance to enjoy a more relaxed pace of sailing yet in the company of other classic yachts. The formal racing program starts on Wednesday 20 July with the Classic Round the Island Race.

There will be a full social programme during the week ranging from drinks on the Royal Yacht Squadron lawn to cocktail parties on Thelma VI, the floating club-house and a Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel charity concert!

All classic yachts are invited so to find out more about the regatta go to British Classic Yacht Club or telephone 07887 893951. Entries close on 5 June 2005.
