Chew Valley Lake SC hosted 29er class training/racing over the late May Bank Holiday 31/5/06

Chew Valley Lake SC held a combined 29er class training and open meeting weekend over the late May holiday. After a good days training on Saturday the races on Sunday were going to be even more keenly contested.

The 1st race was held in around 7 knots and saw Sophie White and Andrew Fielder pull away from the fleet to win. The next three positions were fought for all the way to the line with Alex Groves & George Beck second and Henry Maxfield and Dicken Mclean in third.

After a great CVLSC lunch the fleet were greeted with a building 12 knots and a hint of sunshine for the second race. Maxfield and Mclean showed the fleet a clean pair of heels from the line and went on to win from White and Fielder with Charlie Odell and Dave Hall in third.

The third and final race was the decider. With two boats having race wins the event was still up for grabs. The wind had also built to give perfect 29er sailing conditions. After an over eager first start the fleet got away at the second time of asking. Through the race the lead changed hands between the two contenders. The race went down to the wire with some superb sailing. White and Fielder pipped Maxfield and Mclean to the line to secure the event with Sam Tozer and Elliot Parsons in third.
