A day off racing and time to look at the numbers. Matthew Sheahan reports

Yesterday was a numbers game for Day 3 of the Louis Vuitton finals and the match between Emirates Team New Zealand and the Italians. The Kiwis posted their third win on the trot, the Italians are yet to score a point.

Over each of the three days the Kiwis’ winning margin has increased. Yesterday’s match saw a finishing delta of a whopping 1min 38 sec. During the race the delta for each of the mark roundings increased on every occasion.

Today was an off day and while the Italians stayed ashore and did some head scratching, the rest of us cast our eyes over today’s press release from America’s Cup Management, the organisers of the event.

For those who have yet to visit Valencia, it’s difficult to understand just how the game has moved on when it comes to the number of people the event draws in.
