'Race for Water' is brought out of the shed in Lorient in front of circuit competitors Roland Jordain and Michel Desjoyeaux

The first MOD70 Race for Water was launched yesterday afternoon in Lorient, France, in front of its skipper Steve Ravussin and other competitors entered in the MOD70 circuit – Roland Jordain, Sebastien Josse and Michel Desjoyeaux.

The first of the MOD 70 series – designed by VPLP – looked stunning, bearing the colours of the Multi One Attitude Foundation.

Franck David, Multi One Design Executive Director, who attended the launch, commented: “This is the result of three years of hard work, but it is above all the beginning of a great adventure, bringing together up to 12 MOD70 in the circuit, and the forthcoming announcement of new teams.”

The launch took place in the presence of several Lorient school classes, who were to represent the future generations and the willingness to increase the public awareness on water preservation issues.

Later this week – Friday 25 March – Race for Water will be christened in front of the Cité de la Voile Eric Tabarly in Lorient, where there will be a 4D light and sound show open to the public.

The second MOD70 Veolia Environnement, skippered by Roland Jordain, will be launched on 2 June, followed by Michel Desjoyeaux’s Foncia.
