Volvo Ocean Race chief exec resigns and Team Origin scales down. Do I hear musical chairs?

As soon as I read about Glenn Bourke (right) resigning as chief executive of the Volvo Ocean Race yesterday to spend more time with his family, with no mention of what job he was going to or who would replace him I started thinking there might be one or two people down the road at Team Origin who would fit that job.

Then a mere three hours later and, ping, there was a release from Team Origin stating that they were ‘standing down from full operational mode’. (I do like that phrase; how soon can I start using it?)

There’s lots of organisation and team leadership talent at Team Origin. Mike ‘Moose’ Sanderson – is he free until 2009 then? He’d be a popular guy at VOR HQ in Whiteley, where rumours of conflicts and a soured atmosphere have been rife for well over a year.
