The Royal Ocean Racing Club has appointed a new Chief Executive 23/6/06

Colin Gruar, currently Head of Marketing at the British Heart Foundation, will take up the position of Chief Executive on 11 September 2006. The General Manager of RORC, Peter Wykeham-Martin, will stand down at that time and will not be replaced.

Gruar trained as an engineer and obtained an MBA in 1987. He spent nine years at National Westminster Bank, four of which as Head of Retail Banking. He has held his current position at the British Heart Foundation since 2002. Gruar is a keen amateur yachtsman with offshore and transoceanic racing experience.

David Aisher, Commodore of RORC, said: “We are delighted to have appointed Colin to this new role within the Club. Colin brings a wealth of management and business development experience which will enable the Club to expand its activities and maintain its position at the forefront of our sport. We are very grateful to Peter Wykeham-Martin for his hard work and contribution during his tenure as General Manager”.
