A new solo record
Well, he's done it. After a succession of days with daily runs close to 600 miles Francis Joyon, sailing the 97-foot trimaran IDEC has broken the world solo 24 hour record. He clocked up an amazing 614 miles, an average of 25.6 knots. The record was previously held by Yvan Bourgnon sailing the 60 foot tri Brossard who managed 611.45 miles. Joyon is currently nearly 1000 miles ahead of Ellen MacArthur's time.
