Elaine Bunting – Editor
has been sailing since the age of six. She began racing dinghies and
later crewed on a variety of cruiser-racers and one-designs in club events and
regattas throughout the UK.
Elaine qualified as an RYA sailing
instructor in her teens and has taught sailing in the UK, Ireland and
the USA. She has cruised throughout the UK, Ireland and the
Mediterranean and has crossed the Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Pacific and
Red Sea, and has sailed from South America to Antarctica.
Elaine is also Editor of SuperSail World magazine, a four-yearly publication and that is the world’s only title and website devoted to sailing superyachts.

Matthew Sheahan – Racing & Technical Editor
Matthew is Yachting World’s Racing & Technical Editor. He attended the Southampton Institute where he qualified as a yacht designer and, before joining Yachting World, worked for the sparmaker Proctor. He has a wide experience of top level racing which puts him in a good position to run the racing coverage for the magazine.

Toby Hodges – Test Editor
Toby has sailed with his family on various craft since his earliest memories allow, before racing and teaching on dinghies in Devon throughout his school years. After completing his English Degree he became a deckhand aboard superyachts – sailing in the Med, Red Sea, UAE, Indian Ocean, and Atlantic and gaining his Yachtmaster qualification.
Toby spent five years writing for Yachting Monthly, before leaving his post as Technical Editor to spend a year down under. As Test Editor, Toby is responsible for the boat testing programme, as well as the gear section of the magazine, including New Gear and more extensive gear and equipment articles.

Belinda Bird – Production Editor
Belinda has been a key part of the Yachting World team since joining in the mid-1980s. Handling the smooth running of copy and photographs between art department, repro house and printers.

Robert Owen – Art Editor
Robert has been Yachting World’s Art Editor since 1992 having previously worked in this role for Boat International, The Field and Shooting Times. He was trained at art college in Southend-on-Sea before travelling the world working on large yachts in the Mediterranean. He has twice won Time Inc. (UK) Ltd’s Designer of the Year Award and is a keen photographer and ornithologist.

Helen Dormer – Editorial Assistant
Helen learned to sail on the family Topper, but it wasn’t until backpacking around New Zealand that she stepped onto her first yacht and immediately caught the bug. Since then she has cooked, crewed and skippered on charter-boats, superyachts, yacht deliveries and racing boats in New Zealand, Australia, the Med and the UK.

Alan Warren – Advertisement Manager
Alan joined Yachting World in 1978. His knowledge of the magazine and
the industry is second to none. Alan’s passion for the sport can be seen by the broad spectrum of sailing that he participates in. He successfully campaigns his Graduate at Chipstead Sailing Club and can be found in various locations around the world chartering, cruising or racing.

Michael Beattie – Assistant Advertisement Manager
From Australia Michael joined the Yachting World ad team in 2000. Before moving to the magazine he was working for The Daily Telegraph newspaper. He has raced extensively around the world in events such as Antigua Sailing Week, Cowes Week, Swan Worlds, Fastnet Race and Le Voiles de St Tropez, on a variety of yachts from Maxis and Swans down to keelboats. His other sporting passion is snow skiing.

Simon Spong – Senior Sales Executive
Simon joined the Yachting World ad sales team in September 2006 after
spending six years working on our sister publication Yachting Monthly.
Simon has sailed on the South Coast and in the West Country in the UK
and has also chartered in Mexico. If you are interested in talking about cricket and rugby then Simon is your man.

Fiona Ismail – Advertisement Assistant
Fiona joined IPC Media back in 2001 and moved to the Yachting World team in 2003. If you call the main Yachting World ads number you will probably speak with Fiona. When she has finished an exhausting day organising everyone in the office she can usually be found at one of London’s many theatres. Fiona works Monday to Wednesday.

Pat Brook – Production Manager
Without doubt Pat is the engine room of the magazine. Her production expertise ensures the magazine makes it to the news stand each month. Pat’s vast experience comes from a career working across a variety of media including international newspapers and a broad mix of magazines. She can be seen tapping her feet along to jazz and blues.

Yachting World contributors
Skip Novak was born in 1952. He is best known for racing in four Whitbread Round the World Yacht Races since 1977. At the age of 25 he navigated King’s Legend to 2nd place, skippered Independent Endeavour in 1979, then Simon Le Bon’s Drum in the 1985/86 race, coming 3rd. In 1989 he was project manager and skipper of Fazisi, the first Soviet entry in the Whitbread Race.
He has also raced round the world in maxi multihulls, co-skippering the 33m catamaran Innovation Explorer to 2nd place in The Race, the non-stop, no limits circumnavigation in 2001.
In 1987 he built Pelagic has since spent every season since in Antarctic waters, often leading combined climbing and sailing expeditions.
