Yachting World’s test of Beneteau’s voluminous new chined cruiser – a boat that’s sure to divide opinion

Beneteau’s new Sense 50 is a groundbreaking yacht – and the talking point production boat of the year, by leading the field in stylish living and home comforts afloat. Her ultra beamy (aft) shape, twin rudders and chined hull are modern trends we’ve highlighted in our January issue. But the Sense goes much further, doing away with aft cabins and dividing the boat into three areas for sailing, living and accommodation – while making the transgression between them the smoothest possible. And Groupe Beneteau’s Dock&Go joystick steering system made her a doddle to manoeuvre (see separate video here).

The video was taken during our trials of the prototype in a force five to six off Les Sables D’Olonne.
