Jean Luc Van Den Heede is preparing Adrien for what he believes is his final round the world record attempt

Jean Luc Van Den Heede has announced that a new attempt on the record round the world from east to west will commence in the autumn. Van Den Heede, who was forced to retire from his third attempt earlier this year, is now at the Gamelin Boatyard preparing Adrien for what he believes is his final attempt.

Den Heede commented: The Gamelin boatyard technicians have welded on the aluminium mounting plate which will support the future mast foot. We plan to put Adrien back in the water tomorrow afternoon. We shall then leave using the engines, for Les Sables d’Olonne where, because of the high tide, we shall enter the harbour on Wednesday morning.
