As the fleet head north from Auckland, light winds are making the start of leg 4 of the VOR extremely taxing

Light winds are causing frustration for the Volvo Ocean Race fleet as they hug the coast round New Zealand’s East Cape.

Tyco still leads the fleet but Amer Sports One is close behind followed by djuice. Team illbruck has opted for a slightly more offshore route, and is around two miles from the coast in marginally less breeze. News Corp, SEB and Assa Abloy have yet to round the Cape, while Amer Sports Too is currently revelling in 10 knots of wind.

With the high pressure predicted to move to towards the east later today, winds are expected to pick up a little to around 15 knots.
