Magnus Olsson, one of the most experienced Swedish offshore sailors, has teamed up with W.L. Gore & Associates for an entry in the Oops Cup

Magnus Olsson, one of the most experienced Swedish offshore sailors (pictured left) has closed a deal with W.L. Gore & Associates for the Nokia Oops Cup 2004. Team Gore-Tex is the first team to announce their participation in next year’s event.

The Nokia Oops Cup for Formula 60 Trimarans is a series of events taking place in Nordic countries with a schedule including city and offshore races. The organisers, Atlant Ocean Racing have, however, decided to re-structure the race format slightly for next year to include not only to Sweden, Denmark and Norway but also to Helsinki in Finland and Poland or Germany.

Talking about his partnership with Gore, skipper Magnus Olsson commented: “It feels great to have time to be able to prepare properly and hopefully we will manage to get revenge from last year when we did not succeed to win overall.”

Next year’s series kicks off in Finland – the Helsinki City Race – on 29 May followed on 5 June by the Stockholm City Race. Other planned events in the series include the Gotland Runt and the Gdansk/Kiel/W-münde.
