Dramatic pictures from the start of the Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race

The Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race kicked off in dramatic conditions yesterday (Monday 23rd August), as the larger boats planed out of the Solent at 25 knots. With the two VOR 70’s Telefonica Azul and Groupama 70 immersed in whitewater and ICAP Leopard launching off a wave, it looks like Rick Tomlinson’s pictures could have been taken in the Southern Ocean, rather than the UK’s south coast.
Unfortunately Mike Slade’s Leopard has since had to retire.
