Having completed Leg 7 of the VOR, crews are now preparing for the final, two-leg sprint to the finish at Kiel

With illbruck, Assa Abloy, Tyco having crossed the finish line of VOR Leg 7 at La Rochelle yesterday afternoon, a close race ensued between SEB and Amer Sports One. At the finish line at 1900 last night, just 10 minutes separated the two boats after the 3,400 mile-race with SEB inching ahead to claim fourth place from Amer Sports One.

After winning leg six into Baltimore News Corp had to accept sixth place for the second time. They are now lying in fourth position overall, two points behind Amer Sports One, but just one point in front of Tyco.

The final boat to finish the leg was djuice dragons at 01:09:00 – another disappointing result for Knut Frostad and team who will receive just two points to their overall score, which leaves them three points away from SEB.

Amer Sports Too, who retired to Halifax after the mast broke at the beginning of the leg is on her way to Antwerp on board a cargo ship and will be ready in time to join Leg 8 to Gothenburg.
