The Youth Multihull Championship will run between 24-27 August 2001 at Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club. Prior to the start of the championship the RYA will be running a four-day training camp.

In a move to offer youth multihull teams the maximum opportunity to prepare and hone their skills prior to competing in the championship themselves, the RYA has organised an open youth training camp in the four days leading up to the event itself. Brian Phipps, RYA National Youth Multihull Coach, will be running the camp providing a comprehensive range of coaching, training, off-water workshops and competition guidance to both young sailors who are new to multihull sailing or who are experienced youth multihull sailors.

The championship themselves are open to sailors who will be under 21 on 31st December 2001 and who sail a catamaran under 18 feet. The event promises to be a huge success with more entries expected than ever before following the introduction of the new RYA Catamaran Development Programme earlier this year. The RYA has eight Dart 16s available for charter for the championship.

The prizegiving will be in the Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club. Mementoes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd to Overall Handicap, Youth Handicap (Under 21 on 31st December 2001), Junior Handicap winners (Under 15 on 31st December 2001) and Hobie Dragoon winners.
