Current record holders take line honours

The two existing course record holders in the J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race have again triumphed today. IDEC, the multihull driven by Francis Joyon, crossed the finish line at 09:34, completing the course in 04.24.05 (IDEC’s course record still stands at 3.08.29).

The trimaran was closely followed by the four Extreme 40s led by Oman Sail, The Wave Muscat 09:37, Oman Sail Masirah 09:37, Team Metherell 09:44, and Ecover at 09:48.

ICAP Leopard crossed the finish line at 10:10, with a rounding in 05.0.06, way outside her record of 3.53.05.

The exquisite J Class yacht Velsheda finished at 10:45. Built in 1933 in Camper and Nicholsons in Gosport, Velsheda is the most famous of the few remaining J Class yachts left in the world today.
