The New York Yacht Club has announced the cancellation of next year’s running of the Rolex Transatlantic Challenge
Charles A Dana III, Commodore of the New York Yacht Club, announced yesterday that the Rolex Transatlantic Challenge, the superyacht race from New York to The Lizard scheduled for 18 May 2002, has been cancelled. He added that the race would now take place in May 2005.
Economic downturn and heightened security concerns in the wake of the 11 September attacks have been cited by the New York Yacht Club as the reasons for the cancellation.
