Calm conditions have once again delayed racing at Skandia Cowes Week, but an excellent forecast promises business as usual this afternoon

Light winds at Skandia Cowes Week this morning have caused the committee to postpone racing, with the delay currently set for one hour. As a result, the Open 60 Round the Island race, which was also to have been joined by super maxisSkandia Wild ThingandICAP Maximus, has been changed to an out-and-back race to Poole Bar, with a committee vessel accompanying in case of further course alterations.

The wind at Cowes is currently west-north-westerly, with a mean speed of around 5.7kts. As the day progresses it is expected to back into the south-west and strengthen to around 15kts, promising a good afternoon’s racing at Skandia Cowes Week.
