Olivier de Kersauson’s Cap Gemini and Schneider Electric trimaran, Geronimo, is now over 1,000 miles ahead of Bruno Peyron’s Jules Verne record. Despite last week’s slight setback when de Kersauson and crew had to head a long way west to avoid the St Helena High, they have now reached the Southern Ocean and are just 528 nautical miles from the Cape of Good Hope.

Putting the light, sultry conditions behind them, Team Geronimo are preparing themselves for least three weeks inhospitable conditions as they head for the Roaring Forties and Howling Fifties.
