Bob Fisher and his super-hot team aboard the Val 35, Zeal, had a cracking day during the Harbour Race yesterday, notching up their first win of the week

The first day’s racing a Cork Week was frustrating for some with light airs playing havoc with many of the inshore fleets. However, for others, including Bob Fisher and his super-hot team aboard the Val 35, Zeal, it couldn’t have been better.

Racing in IRC 3, in the harbour with the Primas and IRC 2, under the cliffs and fluky winds, team Fisher sailed a blinding race and notched up their first win of the week. “It was a race of snakes and ladders,” explained Fisher after the race, “the final ladder, fortunately had Otis written on it – it was a full-on elevator. It was tough all the way round and it really only came good right at the end. It was a great race in many ways, where the crew had to concentrate 100 per cent all the way. It looked bleak, black and horrid at times but we just kept going. The moral is, never give up!”.
