Lark fleet descend on old favourite Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club

The weekend of the 26-27 June 2004 saw the Lark fleet descend on an old favourite, Felixstowe Ferry SC and, once again, it didn’t disappoint.

On 26 June 2004 the 20-strong fleet were greeted by near perfect conditions, with a SE F4 creating a large swell against the rising tide. Race 1 got away at the 2nd attempt. Alan Krailing & Gemma Thompson and Nigel Hufton & Chris Whitehouse battled it out for first place, Krailing/Thompson finally taking it on the last reach. Meanwhile Steve Dunn & Tegwyn Roberts were climbing quickly through the fleet to take 3rd.

Dunn/Roberts carried this pace into Race 2 winning comfortably from Krailing/Thompson with Hufton/Whitehouse 3rd.

Sunshine and a Southerly F2-3 welcomed the fleet on Sunday morning. Lark old-boy Richard Woolf, making his guest appearance, ably crewed by Natalie Bannister, rounded first in Race 3 with Hufton/Whitehouse in hot pursuit. The race was decided on the final beat with Hufton/Whitehouse, Krailing/Thompson and Dougal Scott/Ruth Johnson all getting the shifts right to finish in that order.

In the final race, Matt White & Edd McArdle led from start to finish with Nigel Scott & Sally Wakefield, Howard Enkel & Fiona Gray and John Lewis & Milly Parsons among the chasing pack. 2nd and 3rd were eventually decided on the final reach with Steve Cumley & Lucy Matthews, Emma Harris & Becky Priest and Krailing/Thompson swapping places on every wave. Krailing/Thompson snuck through to take 2nd with Harris/Priest 3rd.
