Today sees the start of the Europe class European championships and with 122 boats competing racing will be tough at the top.

Some of the top names in the class have made the trip to Palma including Sari Multala of Finland who will be looking to defend her European title and maintain her position as the number one ranked Europe sailor in the world. Other sailors that could be challenging hard for the title are last year’s European championship runner up Trine Abrahamsen of Denmark and world ranked number two sailor Siren Sundby of Norway.

Leading the British contingent will be Andrea Brewster who will be looking for a good result prior to attending the Pre-Olympics in Athens this August. Other sailors that will be hoping to get a good international result under their belts include Laura Baldwin, Nicky Muller and Lizzie Vickers. Team GBR sailor Kirsty Bonar will not be present at the event due to a knee injury.

Racing will take place in the Bay of Palma de Mallorca from the 7 July through until Friday 11 July with ten races scheduled during the week.
