East coast club celebrates centenary year 11/5/07

To celebrate its centenary year members and committee of the Crouch Yacht Club at Burnham-on-Crouch have organised an exciting schedule of events which culminates with the Centenary Gala Ball on 13 October.

The club which was formed as a result of a meeting with a group of like-minded London yachtsmen at the Mailcoach Inn in Camomile Street almost 100 years to the day, has been an avid supporter of RORC, EAROA, Sail East and the annual regattas at both Burnham and Ramsgate for many years.

Thanks to the club’s recent refurbishment, membership is on the increase and the commodore Mike Harrision says he’s very much looking forward to welcoming guests to the centenary celebrations both on and off the water.

Special events this year include the Crouch Sail East Regatta on 16-17 June, Centenary RORC/EAORA East Coast Race starting on Friday 6 July, the EAORA Houghton Cup on 25 August (during Burnham Week), and the big centenary ball on 13 October.
