The Princess Sofia Trophy for Olympic classes which was taking place in Palma ended in tragedy on Saturday when Johannes Haeupl, an Austrian Tornado sailor was drowned.

Although we currently have few details, it appears that Johannes was trapped under the hull of his Tornado during the last day’s racing.

The competition was immediately brought to a end and the closing ceremony was cancelled while sailors mourned the loss of their fellow competitor.
