Sailpower.com is one of the major supporters for this year’s National School Sailing Association National Youth Regatta. The event, which is open to all school children under the age of 19, will be held at Derwent Reservoir Sailing Club from 22-27 July.

Racing gets underway on Sunday 22 July and there’ll be two races every day until Friday 27 July. As well as the jam-packed racing schedule which includes the Mount Haes Trophy on the Wednesday, competitors will have the opportunity to make the most of the sailpower.com-sponsored Tuesday. Adam Bowers (RYA 470 Racing Coach) will make a special guest appearance and will be on hand throughout the day offering advice and tuning and rigging tips. As part of the sailpower.com team, Adam will be out on the water videoing the racing in preparation for the evening de-brief and a question and answer session.

Those attending the event will also have the chance to meet the sailpower.com team, and competitors can collect their free goodie bag which includes a special sailpower.com waterbottle.

So far 222 boats have signed up for the event and as the deadline draws to a close today (Friday 13 July) the entry list is likely to increase to 250.

The Mount Haes Trophy race on the Wednesday is an event raced in specially chosen two-handed spinnaker boats. Two sailors from each county are nominated to race against each other to establish the Mount Haes champions. This year’s event will be sailed in Laser 2s kindly loaned by Newcastle and Durham Universities.

If you’re not lucky enough to take part in the National Youth Regatta this year, make sure you sign up for the next big NSSA event – the three-boat Topper team racing to be held at Northampton SC in early October.
