Datchet Water SC held its annual multi open for the 49er, 29er, B14 and Musto Skiff on 21-22 October

Datchet Water SC held its annual multi open for the 49er, 29er, B14 and Musto Skiff on 20-21 October.

In the light, fading winds, only one race was sailed on Saturday while on Sunday there was more wind allowing four good races to take place.

In the 49er class Aliatair Richardson and Peter Grenhalgh dominated winning all but one of the races. Chris Draper and Mark Asquith won the only other race and were always pushing Richardson and Grenhalgh.

The 29er fleet had three different race winners. Despite an OCS, Steve Wilson and John Garth from Sunderland managed to win the last two races to pull off the overall victory. Jonathan Frazer and Jonathan Clegg, who were looking good, dropped to fourth after on bad race and an BFD.

The B14 class seemed to have a new star in Nils Joliffe and Jon Branch who won all but one race. Dave Hayes and Sean Dwyer had to settle for second.

Richard Stenhouse fresh from the European in Garda won every race in the Musto Performance Skiff class and was only ever challenged by Jim Baldwin and Graeme Oliver.
