The JPMorgan Asset Management Round the Island Race is the largest annual yacht race of its kind in the world. 1,875 entered the event in 2008 - a record number since the race began in 1931.
Typically, there are around 16,000 sailors out on the water, from Olympic medallists and round-the-world skippers to first timers and family cruisers. For everyone, the challenge is the same: to complete the 50 nautical mile course round the Isle of Wight.
Next year, the Round the Island Race is to take place on Saturday 20 June. For more information, visit www.roundtheisland.org.uk .
