The 29er and 49er nationals at Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy got off to a light start

The first day of the 2004 29er and 49er nationals at Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy had an international flavour with competitors in both fleets from Canada, Australia, Denmark and Ireland. However, the weather was typically British. After a postponement, a light wind eventually allowed both fleets to start. The rain came and went and so did the wind, forcing the race committee to abandon both fleets’ races.

After a long wait to see if the wind would return both the 29ers and 49ers were sent (or towed) ashore. No more races were attempted so racing will continue on today with extra races to try and catch up. The 9ers would like to thank their sponsors – Holt, Gul, Orange mountain bikes, SP systems & Ovington Boats
